Her long-standing relationship with the Royal Exchange, via her role as trustee and through the Bruntwood Prize, provides a deep understanding of the theatre. The Exchange is incredibly excited to announce this remarkable Trustee partnership today.

“The Royal Exchange Theatre is a Manchester institution and one of the most intimate theatres in the UK. The atmosphere and the staging makes the audience feel like they're part of the production, and it’s an experience you don't soon forget. Personally, I've always loved the theatre, even from a young age. I remember watching an Alan Ayckbourn play for the first time about thirty years ago and I absolutely loved it.” “The Royal Exchange has a vision to change the way people see theatre and the world around them, and to give everyone access to the arts, and those values align closely with the way we work at PwC. I'm really honoured and excited to be taking on the role as Chair, and to support the Royal Exchange with all the incredible work they're doing in Manchester and the North.”

Kate Vokes commented:

“Supporting arts and culture to thrive is extremely important to me. I am passionate about how vital a dynamic, innovative and ambitious arts landscape is to any city, and that’s why becoming Deputy Chair of such a unique theatre, committed to supporting artists and communities and to making new work right here in Manchester, is incredibly exciting. I am thrilled to be working alongside Armoghan, with Steve and the staff at the Exchange to grow this vibrant and pioneering theatre and help shape its future.”

Steve Freeman, Executive Director and Joint CEO of the Royal Exchange said…

“I am delighted that Armoghan is joining our Board of Trustees as Chair and that appointment will be supported by Kate Vokes, in the role of Deputy Chair. Armoghan is a brilliant strategist with a wealth of experience in dynamic governance structures. His and Kate’s clear commitment to the performing arts and widening access is something that will help us drive the Royal Exchange forward. Working together with Kate to lead the Board will provide us with the strongest and most exciting leadership, ensuring that the theatre achieves its mission in the future. Their appointments continue our governance development which will see more new appointments being made to the Board who will drive forward the Royal Exchange Theatre as one of the nation’s most significant, full-time producing theatres.”

Armoghan takes over the role of Chair form Ben Caldwell who has been with the theatre for 10 years. The Theatre thanks Ben for his valuable support across the years and his continuing friendship of the theatre.
