An evening in which a ghost paces the halls. actors are in crisis, and we question, do I belong here?

Sorry We’re Closed was part performance, part installation, part disruption of the corners and crevices of the Royal Exchange Theatre’s Great Hall. Young Company Writers produced 13 short duologues, inspired by themes of the DISRVPT programme, which were performed by Young Company Performers, directed by Young Company Makers, who also led on costume & set design, sound & lighting, and stage management.

Performances ran simultaneously across 90 minutes at 3 site-specific locations – The Rivals, The Lounge & The Ice Cream Stand. We invited audiences to dip in and out of each space throughout the evening, or buckle in at one location to see what unfolds…
